I know some of you have heard me praise Dave Ramsey before. Tom and I started his Total Money Makeover program at the beginning of 2007. We were focused and paid off a lot of debt in a short period of time. However, as our situation changed, we lost that focus but are now going to begin the program again. It is a great plan for anyone and pretty easy to follow if you are determined to be debt free. It does require you to be active and accountable for all decisions though. You can't just sit back and say you are trying to become debt free, you need to be focused or "gazelle-intense" as Dave refers to it. I urge everyone to buy his book. Also, here is a link to his August 2008 newsletter to just give you a little taste of his philosophy. He is also a devout Christian and strongly believes in "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" - it's not always easy, but it really requires you to think about your actions and what impact they will make.
