Media-free Day...

We celebrated Media-Free day a few days ago. It was a little tough explaining to the boys why we couldn't be on the computer, play the video games, or watch tv. Overall, it went pretty well. Each day since then, we have watched tv and played video games a little less. The boys are remembering what their Legos look like, how to play hide-in-go-seek, and that they do actually like to paint and draw. They seem a little bit less intense and their imaginations seem to running more wild. I will have to admit, I felt a little less frazzled myself. I cannot deny the fact that I get caught up in the channel flipping, hoping that by the time I get back around to Channel 2, there is something new on.

So, we continue on our journey. It forces us to use our imaginations and spend more quality time together. It is easier to see who someone really is when you have an actual conversation with them instead of sitting next to them on the couch and telling them to be quiet so that you can hear the tv. I'm still not above using the electronic babysitters though when I have a terrible migraine like I did yesterday. I'll work on that.
