MIA for MYHSM, but...

Okay, so I was out of town yesterday and missed my Make Your Home Sing Monday post, but I was thinking of home.  I was thinking of how I want our home to feel.  I want it to be warm and comforting and safe.  For the most part, I think our home already feels that way, but now that the cooler temps have arrived I want to add to it.  I envision piles of quilts, baskets of books, candles, and fresh-baked bread.  I have been on the search for vintage quilts and have only found one.  There is something about a quilt that no other blanket compares to.  Maybe it is because I know that a lot of work went into making it, or that it makes me think of my Granny and what a strong woman she is and how things use to be...simpler.  What ever the reason, I am obsessed determined to find more quilts or vintage quilt squares.  I have been to every thrift store in the area, twice.  I have some quilt squares that my Granny made years ago that I am going to finish into a quilt, but patience has never been one of my vertues.

Any how, Tom and I have been talking and know that we want to be more self-sufficient and what we really want to have one day is...a farm!  Okay, a farm may be a little much, but atleast enough room for a cow, some chickens, a horse, 4-wheelers, and a garden.  Is that too much to ask?  So on our little outing yesterday, I saw this:

Love it!  However, this one is in Crested Butte, and is so out of my price range, um, not my style.  So we continue on our search.  We have decided that to make an educated decision, we will take day trips to various places around here and see what they have to offer.  Yesterday, we set out for Gunnison.  I saw a house online that looked nice and since we didn't know anything about the area, we decided to drive there.  It took us about 5 hours to get to Gunnison, but on the way we had to drive through Mt. Monarch Pass (11,312 ft. elevation).  I was the one driving at the time and wasn't prepared for how the road was going to be:

But we made it through, thanks to all the guys driving the snow plows that were keeping the roads safe.  Here are a few other pics from our trip:

As it got later and there was nothing to take pictures of, I started playing with my camera's shutter speed:

That's all for now.  God bless you and may you make your house a home.
